The project includes a kindergarten and spaces for youth activities. The intervention is based on three basic principles: the oversize of the existing warehouse, the addition of a compact new building and the generous steel structure as a buffer towards the green playing area.
The existing warehouse is being renovated and completed with a new, compact volume. Due to the small footprint of the new volume, the green space is maximally preserved. The position of this new addition structures the outdoor space, creating two different outdoor areas, according to the needs of the children.
The warehouse and the new volume are connected by means of a slender steel structure that forms a transition between building and landscape. A generous structure which occurs as a canopy and terrace. But above all the structure is a game element and will work as a decor, balcony, base for lashings... A simple construction that is charged by the imagination of the children and supervisors.
